Chosen Solution I am working on converting my old macbook into a SFF desktop to use for media and I need a way to turn it on without the keyboard. The keyboard is stuffed (It had coke spilled through it), the retention arm is broken to hold the cable in also, I tried soldering on another power button onto the power on pads with a resistor (cant remember what resistance I read somewhere) but it didn’t work so I took the button I made off and now there is only 1 power on pad visible the other one is just gone and wont jump start with just a piece of wire like it did before....

Chosen Solution Purchased a 1 TB SSD Hybrid 2.5" hard drive and what to replace the original hard drive. How and when should I move all my data to the new drive. My computer abilities are very limited as is my understanding of the nomenclature, but physically changing the drives is no problem. What you want is a means to Clone one drives data onto another drive. Apples migration app is useful when you have two systems (old and new) SuperDuper is one of the better file cloners when you are working with a single system....

Chosen Solution I am not sure how to tell the year of my club car golf cart. Bill Wells, Usually with a blown head gasket the engines will tend to smoke quite a lot from exhaust. Other generic things that could allow gas into oil of engine, fuel float in the carburetor being stuck in the open position due to dirt/gumming(remove carb. check/clean set float level). Other possible causes, fuel shut off solenoid stuck(if equipped) allowing fuel to flow when key off, choke sticking on, air filter clogged acting like a choke, faulty fuel pump if vacuum type can allow gas to leak internally to engine if pump is leaking internally, if more then one cylinder(running engine with a dead weak cylinder/plug could allow excess gas into engine)....

They’ll both have to be stripped down and thoroughly cleaned using Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ (available at most pharmacies) and then allowed to dry after checking that all the WD-40 has been removed....

If you boot it off a live linux CD or bootable memory stick you should be able to poke around, and with a bit of research on Google, find out how to reset or clear the admin password, or at least copy off your data.

Chosen Solution My Macbook Pro 2014 13” housing is in tough shape and I would like it to look presentable again. I fear replacing it, however, since the serial number on a replacement housing will no longer reflect the original one. If I ever bring it to an Apple Store for a free repair program or a recall in the future, could they deny me service, or worse, carry me off to the Apple Store backroom to be interrogated by the Apple Police?...

Chosen Solution Hi, This iMac has no backlight anymore. the diagnostic leds are all oké. Is this a broken lcd or is this a logic board problem? Thx for the reply Sadly, this implies your logic board needs repair. Either a fuse link or more likely the backlight LED driver burnt.

Chosen Solution Hello, I’ve got a customers iPhone 5 bought in for a screen & battery replacement which won’t turn on at all. It wouldn’t turn on even BEFORE I attempted to repair anything. She states that it was working with poor battery life before she gave it to me. I trust her. I did the usual, Hard Reset, Removing & Replacing the battery, trying with a different screen. However the phone doesn’t respond to anything, I don’t feel any vibrations with the mute switch....

Chosen Solution So my iPhone 6 went dead and wouldn’t charge up from red icon so I sent it to a micro soldering repair place. He had it running. A year after the repair one of my cheap chargers I think fried something either Tristar or Tigris. Because phone would charge up slowly and heat up considerably while charging probably due to cheap chargers. So I went ahead and opened up the iPhone and took out Tristar, the Tristar was recently replaced by the guy so I put a new one in there....

MayorAura, Depending on which exact 3DS XL you have, it appears on older model 3DS XL the SD reader looks like it will have to be de-soldered from board and then new reader resoldered to board, this would be best done by some one with micro-soldering skills to prevent further damage to the board and components....
