Chosen Solution I dropped my phone in deep fryer got it out pretty quick. Oil mark under screen. Sometime screen changes like it’s being touched or swiped. Realistically, you will need to replace the screen assembly as any attempts at cleaning out the oil will likely damage the screen or backlight further. While you have the device open, look at the logic board and inner housing to see if there is any oil residue as well....

Chosen Solution Is it even possible to get this trunk to close automatically with a new or repaired motorized retractor? @boatbuildertom , Tom, Look for a broken wire for retractor at the trunk hinge drivers side, there is a plug there also may be loose/corroded plug or a couple broken wires. Other causes could be fuse/relay, paddle/switch, actuator, pull down assy./motor faulty. It would also be a good idea to lube up the latch/lock assy....

The water is inside the phone, on the logic board and under the shields, even under the IC’s. The rice is nowhere near where the water is. So while it ‘’may’’ soak up some water vapour, the real problem is the mineral deposits that can cause short circuits or the corrosion that is taking place as the water evaporates....

Chosen Solution What is the component/interface port directly above the bluetooth/air card on this logic board?? Is this an interface that can be utilized for technical diagnosis? EC @dcfd855 that is reference designator J5100. It is used as LPC+SPI Debug Connector. Definition for those are Low pin count(LPC) Serial peripheral interface(SPI). Looks like an Apple way to debug the logic board. Hope this helps, good luck.

Check that the ringtone setting is not set to OFF Check that the 3 AA batteries in the phone are OK. If necessary replace them with new ones and then test if the phone rings on an incoming call. If the batteries are low, the Melody ringtones (if this is what you have set for the ringtone) will not work Here are two images taken from the owner manual that show how to select the ringtone....

I took it to some small repair shop where the owner told me all he had to do was replace the screen and that would fix my problem. Within 20 minutes he replaced the bottom touch screen and the top glass screen, along with the button.
